Launched in 2004 with a baptism done with her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mary 2 was created to evoke the traditional charm of ocean sailing with classic afternoon tea, elegant furnishings and evenings, with an exceptional outdoor promenade. No neon, blaring ads and street vendors, all built for an adults-only cruise experience. QM2 is also the only ship in the world built and designed specifically for transatlantic travel. In 2014 the ship celebrated its 10th anniversary with another royal occasion, a tour from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was alongside his wife 10 years earlier when she was baptized. Thanks to its size, the ship will seem surprisingly quiet in many spaces, despite carrying 2,600 passengers.
