The Emerald Princess debuted in 2007, was one of the largest ships in the Princess fleet, and was also recognized for a much higher standard on cuisine, catering, service and comfort. There was, and still is, an Italian-style piazza, where people spend day and night to enjoy "street theater", which includes everything from waders to comedians, from demonstrations by chefs and bartenders, to a pianist who sings Broadway songs. The square is flanked by the Caffè International, with its excellent coffees and delicious pastries. The ship also offers movies under the stars the Sanctuary, adult-only sundeck area and spa on the upper deck. Princess was the first to offer these attractions on board, which were then repurposed on many other lines.
