La Coruna is Galicia's main port. Built on an ancient Celtic hill, much of this Spanish city can be visited on foot. Rich in history, tradition, and beautiful architecture, it has a wealth of open spaces, parks, and unspoiled beaches. Residents take pride in their Celtic heritage and nurture the survival of Galego, their language. Due to its proximity to the cruise pier, the San Carlos flourishing garden, located at the height of the old San Carlos fort, is well worth a visit. The garden makes a good starting point for a walk through the old town. Walking through the cobbled streets is full of history including the still visible Roman walls that once protected the city. As well as churches and ancient palaces and galleries, the old town offers a wide choice of restaurants and tapas bars to make anyone hungry.
